Recovering from paralysis Stevie now holds multiple weightlifting world records in the International All Round Weightlifting Association (IAWA) and has a lifetime of experience in stone lifting.
Stevie has recorded numerous lifts of The Dinnie Stones which are a set of ringed stones totalling 733lbs.
In 1972 Stevie’s father Jack Shanks became the first man to lift the Dinnie Stones returning in 1973 to become the first man to carry the Dinnie Stones since Donald Dinnie himself 1860.
Stevie is the founder of the annual Donald Dinnie Day Gathering held at Potarch, Aberdeenshire, Scotland and has competed, worked and refereed at and The Arnolds in Columbus Ohio as well as working and refereeing at the UK Arnolds and working at the Rogue Invitational in Aberdeen.
